Vicky Randall, Dr

Dr. Vicky Randall is a teacher educator, researcher, and consultant in physical education with over two decades of experience in the field. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), she currently holds the role of Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Gloucestershire. Her research interests center on professional knowledge and teacher education in primary physical education, with a particular focus on curriculum development, policy, and children's mental health and wellbeing.
Before transitioning to academia to work in initial teacher education, Vicky worked as a Physical Education teacher, Head of Department, and Regional Subject Adviser for Physical Education in Hampshire and South London. In higher education, she has served in various leadership roles, including Senior Fellow, Co-Lead for Research and Knowledge Exchange, and Subject Lead for Physical Education.
Vicky is engaged with influencing Physical Education at a national level and in European networks with the aim to advance primary physical education teaching, curriculum and practice. She is the convenor of the Primary Physical Education Teacher Education Network (PETEN), a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood, and co-founder of the Primary Physical Education Assembly (PPEA). Vicky is also an ambassador for the children’s mental health charity Stormbreak CIO. An active writer in her field, she is co-editor of the widely used international textbook An Introduction to Primary Physical Education, contributing extensively to scholarship on physical education and children’s mental wellbeing.
