Uvanney Maylor, Professor

Uvanney Maylor is Professor of Education at the University of Bedfordshire, UK. She is a former Director of Multiverse. Uvanney has conducted extensive research in the field of educational equity, inclusion and social justice particularly as it relates to the experiences, progression and outcomes of racially minoritised students and staff in schools, colleges and higher education. By bringing greater scrutiny to bear on educational policy, institutional leadership, staff practice and student experience, Uvanney’s research aims to challenge deficit discourses to positively impact student experience and outcomes and to inform antiracist educational practice. Uvanney served as an invited member of the UK Council for Graduate Education, Working Group on Black and Minority Ethnic participation in postgraduate research. She was an advisory board member regarding the University of Warwick’s, British Educational Research Association funded UK-wide State of the Discipline Education survey project (2022-23). She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an appointed member of the UKRI Research Talent Panel College (2022-2025) and a member of the European Science Foundation College of External Reviewers of Research. She served as an academic panel member of the Education Unit of Assessment in the Research Excellence Framework in 2014 and 2021. Her publications include:
