Sinéad Harmey is a lecturer in literacy education based at the International Literacy Centre, UCL Institute of Education. Her research interests are rooted in her experiences as primary teacher and include describing young children’s literacy development, early literacy assessment and intervention, and translational research in education. She has worked in Ireland, the United States and the United Kingdom. She is particularly interested in how research evidence can be successfully translated to inform instruction. She co-authored the most recent meta-analytic review of reading recovery and her work has been published in Journal of Early Childhood Literacy, Reading Research Quarterly and Research in the Teaching of English.
