Simon Thomas is assistant head of English at De Montfort University International College. His research interests include human learning and memory, developing communities of inquiry, and second language acquisition. He has been teaching English since 2006 and began teaching English for academic purposes (EAP) and study skills in 2014, working for the University of Nottingham Ningbo China as well as on various pre-sessional courses at universities in the UK prior to his current role. He has an MA in applied linguistics and English language teaching from King’s College London, as well as a BA (Hons) and an MA in philosophy from the University of Sheffield and Birkbeck, University of London, respectively.
