Senior Lecturer in Academic Development at Leeds Trinity University

Dr Sean Walton is Senior Lecturer in Academic Development in the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at Leeds Trinity University. He is an academic and educationalist who has previously worked in a variety of roles related to education and educational development, including: as an Advisor in the (then) Higher Education Academy's Research and Evaluation team; as a Senior Lecturer in Education; as the International Director for a faculty of education; and as the Head of the Centre for Educational Development at a large and diverse university in the North of England. His current and previous roles have focused on developing academic practice, implementing inclusive pedagogies, and improving the student learning experience through innovative curriculum design. His research interests include: Critical pedagogy; critical race theory in higher education; Marxism and education; critical theory (especially the works of Herbert Marcuse); anti-racist education; and issues of social justice within the education system. He is also interested in the philosophy of education and wider societal issues that relate to education.
