Sarah Hopkyns, Dr

Sarah Hopkyns is a Lecturer / Assistant Professor at the University of St Andrews and UCL, UK. Sarah is also a Visiting Research Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. Sarah has previously worked in the UAE, Canada, and Japan. Her research interests include language and identity, language policy, world Englishes, translingual practice, linguistic landscapes and English-medium instruction (EMI). She has published widely on these areas in academic journals and books as well as through blogs and podcasts. Sarah is author of The Impact of Global English on Cultural Identities in the UAE (Routledge, 2020) and co-editor of Linguistic Identities in the Arab Gulf States (Routledge, 2022).
