Samantha Wilkes is a senior lecturer in primary education at Leeds Trinity University. She has extensive experience in the early years curriculum, with a particular focus on language development and acquisition, phonics and early reading and writing development. Her role in initial teacher training and mentoring early career teachers as a headteacher has driven an interest in research around teacher retention and related actions.
