Dr Richard Watkins is the research and evaluation lead for GwE, North Wales Regional School Improvement Service, and deputy director of the Collaborative Institute for Education Research, Evidence and Impact (CIEREI), Bangor University. Richard’s work and research interests include science education and the application of evidence-based teaching strategies in schools. He has published a variety of articles and teaching resources on the use and impact of evidence-informed teaching strategies in schools, alongside science education, curriculum and assessment resources. Richard currently coordinates Welsh Government’s Embedding Research and Enquiry in Schools (EREiS), Talk Pedagogy and National Professional Enquiry Project (NPEP) in North Wales, and also coordinates a range of other research projects with university partners focused on the application and impact of evidence-based interventions in schools. He co-supervises doctoral students at Bangor University and the University of Warwick working across a range of close-to-practice school projects.
