Rhiannon Love, Dr

Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at University of Winchester

Dr. Rhiannon Love is a teacher educator and researcher who has been working in Initial Teacher Education since 2013. She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Education at the University of Winchester. Rhiannon is the curriculum lead for Primary Religious Education and Philosophy for Children (P4C) on the undergraduate BA (Hons) Primary Education and postgraduate PGCE Primary and Secondary Humanities programmes. Rhiannon is also a Level One SAPERE Philosophy for Children trainer. Her research interests are in the areas of Philosophy for Children, with particular interest in its potential for supporting wellbeing, Primary Religious Education and LGBTQ+ student teacher experience. In addition, Rhiannon used a community of philosophical enquiry (CoE) as her principal research method for her doctorate and is keen to champion using a CoE as a research method, for its potential to offer democratic, dialogic opportunities for participant-led research.

Prior to moving to work in initial teacher education, Rhiannon worked in both secondary schools and primary schools, where she was part of the Hampshire Steering Group for Primary Religious Education. In higher education, she has served in various leadership roles, including Programme Leader for PGCE Secondary Religious Education and PGCE Secondary Humanities, and is currently Co-director of the University of Winchester’s Centre of Research for Educational Action and Theory Exchange (CREATE). Rhiannon is also the Primary RE ITE Exec. member for AULRE (Association of University Lecturers in Religion and Education) and a member of the Steering Group for Learn Teach Lead RE: Area 3 and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
