Phuong Tu Nguyen, Mr

Doctoral Student at Edge Hill University

I'm a PhD researcher specialising in gender, sexuality, and education, with over 8 years of experience in gender advocacy and sexuality education in Vietnam and the UK. Holding an MA in Education, Gender and International Development at UCL and pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Educational Research at Edge Hill University, my work is rooted in queer, materialist and intersectional feminist frameworks.

My research looks at how the sociomaterial conditions and politics of desire shape young people's learning sexuality via "alternative sexuality curricula". Through my inquiries, I hope to critically examine and challenge intersectional inequalities that impact young people's lived experience, as well as reflect on pedagogical practices that promotes social justice and equality. I have also presented my research at several academic conferences held by the British Association for International and Comparative Education (BAICE) and British Educational Research Association (BERA).
