Pauline Brown, Ms

PhD student at University of Manchester

Pauline Brown is a final year PhD student in Education at the University of Manchester. Her PhD, sponsored by the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, explores the relationship between poverty, place and educational outcomes. Pauline’s research is both quantitative and theoretical and draws on analyses of the Millennium Cohort Study, from the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, UCL Social Research Institute, held by UK Data Service. She has presented her interim findings on the variation and validity of individual-level poverty indicators in education at the 2022 UKDS Family Finance Conference.
Pauline has worked at the Department for Education and with the Education Endowment Foundation to implement their regional strategy. Currently Director of Programmes and Research at Red Kite Teaching School Hub, Pauline is also part of Red Kite Connect, a new venture connecting system partners and sharing knowledge. Originally, and still sometimes an English teacher, Pauline is governor at her local primary school.
