Professional Doctorate in Education at University of the West of England

Dr Paula Fieldhouse has recently completed a Professional Doctorate in Education from the University of the West of England. Her research explored the intergenerational transmission of maths anxiety and whether this could be reduced through an intervention for parents. Her interest in maths anxiety was ignited during previous research she did for an MA into girls’ experiences of primary mathematics. Prior to this she was a teacher and spent more than 10 years teaching in primary schools in London, Bristol and Bath. She also trained teachers in China and the Maldives. Paula is now the Maths and Financial Literacy Lead for Learning with Parents, an EdTech charity committed to reducing educational disadvantage by supporting all families to have positive learning interactions at home.
