Matthew Dunn, Professor

Head of Programmes at Bishop Grosseteste University

Matthew Dunn taught in secondary schools for 23 years before moving into a career in teacher education and research. He is currently head of programmes (Secondary, FE, TESOL & Research Education) in the School of Teacher Development at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln, and teaches on a range of programmes within this portfolio. Matthew’s main research interests centre around the use of the threshold concept framework in secondary education and teacher development, building on his own personal and professional experiences of transition from GCSE to A-level, a theme which he explored in depth in his doctoral thesis. He is currently involved in a project involving teachers, pupils, academics and student teachers who are working to develop pedagogically productive approaches to classroom practice based on threshold concepts. Matthew is happy to be contacted by email or Twitter.
