Kamal Ahmed, Mr

Senior Lecturer at University of Cumbria

Kamal Ahmed is a lecturer in Education Studies at the University of Cumbria. He is a graduate of Dar-ul-Uloom (traditional Islamic seminary) and is currently undertaking a PhD. Using an interpretive phenomenological analysis approach, Kamal is exploring through self-narratives how Dar-ul-Uloom graduates construct their identities as they navigate and negotiate their experiences of being an Aalim (Islamic scholar) in modern day Britain. Kamal is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and his publications include articles on translanguaging in Madrasahs and how non-traditional learners in HE can be supported with critical thinking skills.
