Jen grew up on Coast Salish territories (Vancouver Island, Canada) where she completed her BA and MA at the University of Victoria. After finishing her PhD at the Open University, she held a SSHRC postdoctoral award at the University of British Columbia and taught at both Durham and Exeter University. She is now based at Newcastle University, as Reader in Geography and Deputy Director for the Institute of Social Science.
