Dr. Imogen Casebourne is Innovation Lab research lead at DEFI (Digital Education Futures Initiative) part of the Bridge Centre based at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge. Imogen has extensive experience of designing educational technology and has advised policy makers on AI and education. With a DPhil in educational technology from the University of Oxford, and an MSc in Knowledge-Based Systems (AI) from the University of Sussex, during which she developed an early generative AI program that wrote short stories (Sharples & Pérez y Pérez, 2023 p.8-10), Imogen has a practical understanding of the mechanics of AI, in addition to a focus on education and educational technology. She is on the Executive Committee of the Learning Ideas Conference.
At DEFI she explores the intersections of AI, collective intelligence, education and assessment, advising policy makers and practitioners on research developments. Imogen has led research projects and designed educational software.
