Gemma Moss, Professor
Professor of Literacy at University College London
Gemma Moss is Professor of Literacy at UCL Institute of Education. As Director of the ESRC Education Research Programme (2021-26) she is exploring new ways of working in partnership across the boundaries between education research, policy, and practice alongside nine research projects appointed to the programme to research two policy relevant themes: the role of teachers, their recruitment, retention and professional development; and the uses of technology for teaching and learning. Her research interests include in how the shifting relationships between policymakers, practitioners and stakeholders are reshaping the knowledge landscape in education, and the use of research evidence to support policy and practice in the interests of the public good.
She was president of BERA between 2015 and 2017, and has served on BERA Council as well as acting as the original co-convenor of BERA’s Educational Research and Educational Policy-Making special interest group.
