Fien Depaepe is associate professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at KU Leuven, and a research member of the Centre for Instructional Psychology and Technology (CIP&T) and principal investigator of ITEC, an Imec research group at KU Leuven.

Her research interests include instructional design and educational effectiveness of technology-enhanced learning environments. This effectiveness is mainly determined based on log data, physiological data, self-reports and assessments.
