Estelia Bórquez Sánchez is a Research Assistant at the University of Glasgow, School of Education, in projects such as Camau i'r Dyfodol, Assessing for the Future and Carnegie. She has also collaborated with the International Educational Assessment Network (IEAN) projects. She is a member of the University of Glasgow Educational Assessment Network (UGEAN), part of the Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change. She was awarded her PhD in science education from the University of York. Previously, she developed an extensive career in teaching and researching in Chilean universities in the southern region. Her interests lie in science education, curriculum development, assessment, learning progression and promoting social justice through scientific literacy. She primarily focuses on biology teaching and assessment, and promoting evidence-based thinking in education systems.
