Cath Gristy, Dr

Lecturer at Plymouth University

I have been a secondary school science teacher and worked in special needs and pupil referal unit schooling. My doctoral thesis, Life on the edge: the role played by school in the lives of young people from a rural community in the South West of England, reflects my research interests in issues of inclusion and education in rural contexts.
In my role as an academic programme lead, I work to make widening particpation in HE a reality.
I am a member of the British Education Research Association, the European Education Research Association, World Education Research Association and the Society for Research into Higher Education.
I am a trustee of my local community Youth Club and I have co-convene a regional youth hub which supports leaders who work with children and young people.
