Carol is Professor of Higher Education and Gender. Her research utilizes feminist, new materialist and posthumanist theories and methodologies to explore gendered inequalities, spatial practices, and staff and students’ participation in a range of higher educational sites. Carol has a keen interest in using trans- and interdisciplinary methodological innovation to further gendered social justice in education. Her latest books are Taylor, C. A., Hughes, C. & Ulmer, J. (Eds.) (2020) Transdisciplinary Feminist Research: Innovations in Theory, Method and Practice. London: Routledge; Posthumanism and Higher Education: Reimagining Pedagogy, Practice and Research (2019, Palgrave MacMillan, co-edited with Annouchka Bayley), Material Feminisms: New Directions for Education (2019, Routledge, co-edited with Gabrielle Ivinson), and Posthuman Research Practices in Education (2016, Palgrave MacMillan, with Christina Hughes). Carol is co-editor of the journal Gender and Education, and is on the editorial boards of Journal of Posthumanism, Teaching in Higher Education and Critical Studies in Teaching and Learning.
