Dr Ania Atkinson is a Senior Lecturer in Education Studies and SEND at Nottingham Trent University.
She leads the SEND Special Interest Group (SIG) at NTU. The SEND SIG is a place to share knowledge, research, and experiences of SEND. Ania has personal connections with Autism and her identity as a previous SENCo, teacher, and SEND specialist have catalysed her interest in monotropism – an area which remains largely under explored. She is interested in the benefits that monotropism, flow states, and ‘special interests’ can bring to the classroom, both as a learning tool but also as a method of support for autistic students.
