SERA – Call for Papers
Scottish Educational Research Association
40th Annual Conference, 2015
School of Education, University of Aberdeen,
Wednesday 18th November – Friday 20th November 2015
“Education as (if) the Whole Earth Mattered”
What would our educational systems, institutions, policies, workplace interactions, and professional relationships be like if education served everybody on the planet—not only ‘a few’, the ‘promising’ or even ‘the majority’—but every single person on the planet?
In what ways would the boundaries of our educational systems be stretched to include a variety of learning approaches, cultures, languages, places and contexts for learning?
And what is the ultimate aim for education and learning in/out of formal educational institutions if education and lifelong learning was about not simply being able to fit in and be successful in life but to live well and to live wisely, and in a sustainable way?
Building on last year’s theme ‘Widening Horizons to a World View’, the SERA Conference 2015 focuses on pressing issues concerning education and learning in the global context. The conference theme welcomes original and critical contributions from scholars and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines exploring a rich and broad view of education and learning as a means for supporting a multiplicity of life-projects, engaging knowledge, relationships and the imagination.
The SERA Annual conference is an important event for the educational research community in Scotland. The three-day conference, to be held in Aberdeen, invites researchers and practitioners working in Scottish and international research contexts to share their insights under the theme, Education as (if) the Whole Earth Mattered. Contributions discussing new research possibilities, new forms of contexts for learning, and new types of collaboration among academics and practitioners are welcomed.
