Opportunity
Join the BERJ Editorial Board
BERA is currently looking for up to three people to join the British Educational Research Journal (BERJ) Editorial Board. This is an exciting opportunity to join the board of this highly regarded international Journal. We are in the middle of the first term of a new editorial team and members of the Editorial Board have an important role to play in supporting the team and setting the strategic direction of the Journal. Members will be appointed for three years in the first instance.
Members of the Board are expected to attend board meetings and to be actively involved in supporting and promoting the journal. This includes but is not limited to:
- Encouraging submissions of high quality from colleagues, PhD student and contacts made at conferences
- Reviewing submissions and advising the editorial team
- Promoting the journal at conferences and other events
- Choosing the journal as their first choice for submission of their own work whenever appropriate.
- Submitting ideas to the Editor for virtual issues (online compilations of existing journal content) and recommending possible guest editors / authors.
- Encouraging their students and colleagues to read the journal and encouraging their institution to take a subscription if they do not already.
The appointment process takes into account the experience of the applicant in terms of publication in peer review outlets and of previous refereeing suitable to the international academic standards of BERJ. In addition to academic standing, the process will consider both the institutional spread of the Board and individual expertise amongst members of the Board. Consideration will be taken of coverage of sub-discipline expertise. In this appointment round we would be particularly keen to receive applications from those with a strong quantitative background.
Applications should include a CV and a statement of no more than 500 words explaining what the applicant feels they can offer to the Board.
Please send all applications to admin@bera.ac.uk – clearly stating that they are for the BERJ Editorial Board in the title. The closing date is Friday 31st July 2015.
