British Curriculum Forum Steering Group – new members sought
Since its inception over 40 years ago the British Curriculum Forum (BCF) has existed to promote all aspects of curricular development and enquiry accompanied by genuine dialogue between researchers, policy makers and practitioners. The original foundation was incorporated into BERA in Autumn 2013 and as part of its on-going development we would like to widen the membership of its Steering Group.
Working across the four nations the BCF has the potential to provide the architecture for schools and colleges to communicate with each other on all curricula-related matters. It has the capacity to forge stronger links between researchers and practitioners at local, national and international levels. The BCF can better inform our understanding of research-based teaching by critically interrogating the moral and ethical dimensions that underpin the boundaries between curriculum, assessment and pedagogy. Above all the BCF has the ability to enable BERA to connect, more effectively, with schools and the teaching profession.
To achieve these aims we wish to widen the membership of the Steering Group to include practitioners (including teachers), SIG Convenors (or their representatives) and researchers from across the four nations. Membership of the Steering Group requires people who are willing to actively promote the BCF to practitioners including teachers and teacher educators, policy makers and educational researchers.
The last 40 years has witnessed considerable transformation of the “British” educational landscape. If you would like to become part of a steering group that not only recognises these changes but capitalizes on their opportunities please get in touch. Applications should include a statement of no more than 500 words outlining what you feel you can bring to the work of the BCF.
Please send all applications to admin@bera.ac.uk – clearly stating that they are for the BCF Steering Group in the title. The closing date is Tuesday 30th June 2015.
