2018 BERA Vice-President Election

Could you be the next BERA President ?

We are currently looking for expressions of interest for the next BERA President between 2019-2021. You would serve as Vice-president from September 2018 and therefore be elected in the next round of elections.

The President acts as the Chair of Trustees for BERA. They will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for BERA’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees and ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. He or she will act as an ambassador and the public face of BERA.

This is a significant leadership role and we are keen to hear from those who may be interested in standing. Before formal nomination, there will be an opportunity to explore the nature of the role and the commitment involved.

The Position of Vice-President is also of President Elect.

The President acts as the Chair of Trustees for BERA. They will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for BERA’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees and ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. He or she will act as an ambassador and the public face of BERA.

The Vice-President acts for the President when the President is not available and undertakes assignments at the request of the President. The Vice-President holds an explicit leadership role for SIGs, chairs the SIG Convenors’ meetings and helps draw up the Agenda. They are an additional point of contact for the SIG representatives on other committees. This enables the Vice-President to facilitate clear communication between SIGs and the wider organisation. The outgoing Vice-President supports the President in their first year in role as necessary.

President Role Description

To be eligible to stand, candidates must be must be fully paid up members of BERA at the time of the nomination process opening and closing. Their supporters must also be fully paid up members of BERA at the time of the nomination process opening and closing. No extensions are granted.

Candidates must not be ineligible to stand according to the rules set out by the Charity Commission or Companies House.
