BERA announces 2025 BERA Doctoral Thesis and Masters Dissertation winners

Annually, BERA recognises academic excellence and research rigour demonstrated by Masters and Doctorate students. This recognition underscores BERA’s commitment to developing capacity, advancing quality and methodological originality within the field of educational research. These annual awards are scored by the BERA College of Reviewers, in collaboration with members of BERA’s Engagement Committee.

We are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2025 awards.

The 2025 BERA Doctoral Thesis award winner is:

Dr Lucy Robinson for her dissertation “How does military life shape service children’s identity and school experiences?”

The 2025 BERA Masters Dissertation award winner is:

Samuel Akroyd for his dissertation:Toward a critical-ethical framework for the mitigation of the social injustice potential of Artificial Intelligence in education: Students and selfhoods.”

She will receive a £250 prize as well as complimentary registration at BERA Conference 2025.
