2023 impact factors released for four BERA journals

The 2023 Journal Citation Report (JCR) was released in June 2024, and BERA is delighted to share the latest impact factors for the British Journal of Educational Technology (BJET), the British Educational Research Journal (BERJ), Review of Education and the Curriculum Journal.

  • The impact factor for BJET has increased to 6.7 (up from 6.6) and the journal now ranks 6/756 in the Education and Educational Research category, moving it even higher in the top quartile.
  • The impact factor for BERJ has increased to 3.0 (up from 2.3) and the journal now ranks 83/756 in the Education and Educational Research category, placing it in the top quartile.
  • The impact factor for Review of Education has increased to 2.7 (up from 2.4) and the journal ranks 109/756 in the Education and Educational Research category, placing it in the top quartile.
  • The impact factor for the Curriculum Journal is 1.2 and the journal ranks 370/756 in the Education and Educational Research category, placing it in the second quartile.

This year Review of Education and the Curriculum Journal received rankings in the Education and Educational Research category for the first time. This is due to Clarivate introducing new combined subject category rankings, which now include journals in the Emerging Sources Citation Index.

These successes reflect the expertise and commitment of the four journals’ editorial teams and their excellent leadership as editors. We offer our congratulations to current and previous BERA journal editors and wish to extend our sincere gratitude for their ongoing and invaluable hard work and dedication.

In line with the DORA principles for fair research assessment, we recognise that impact factor is only one measure of a journal’s success, and our publisher Wiley is improving the way it measures and promotes the impact of the journals it publishes.
