2022 impact factors released for four BERA journals

The 2022 Journal Citation Report was released in June 2023, and BERA is delighted to announce that the impact factors for the British Journal of Educational Technology (BJET) and the British Educational Research Journal (BERJ) have increased, while Review of Education and Curriculum Journal have received their inaugural impact factors.

The impact factor for BJET has increased to 6.6 (up from 5.268) and the journal now ranks 12/269 in the Education and Educational Research category. BERJ’s impact factor is 2.3 (up from 2.133) and the journal now ranks 140/269 in the Education and Educational Research category.

Review of Education’s inaugural impact factor stands at 2.4, while the inaugural impact factor for Curriculum Journal is 1.6. These impressive first impact factors recognise the two journals’ contributions to the discipline. Review of Education and Curriculum Journal have received an impact factor for the first time due to a policy change at Clarivate whereby all journals in the Emerging Sources Citation Index will now have an impact factor.

These successes are testament to the hard work and dedication of the four journals’ editorial teams. BERA wishes to congratulate each team and extend its sincere gratitude for their invaluable ongoing work and commitment.

In line with the DORA principles for fair research assessment, we recognise that impact factor is only one measure of a journal’s success, and our publisher Wiley is improving the way it measures and promotes the impact of the journals it publishes.
