Researching Gender & Sexuality in Educational Settings

Join us for an online event hosted by the Sexualities and Gender Special Interest Group of the British Education Research Association.

Calling all educators, researchers, and advocates interested in critically exploring how gender and sexuality comes to matter in educational settings.

This event begins with an introduction to the Sexualities and Gender SIG from co-convenors, Kate Marston and Kayden Schumacher. Following this, the rest of the session will include a series of 5 or 10 minute lightening presentations from SIG and non-SIG members of whom you could be one! We invite you to offer your perspective on being and becoming a gender and sexualities educator, researcher and advocate in this increasingly contested and politicised terrain.

We are eager to showcase affirmative, uplifting and imaginative gender and sexualities research, build community and create a space to explore the complexities of this work and the context-specific barriers researchers face.
