I have been involved with BERA for a number of years initially as one of the convenors of the ECR Network and subsequently as a member of Engagement Committee and inaugural ECR representative on Council. These positions – and the experiences they have provided – have enabled me to become highly attuned to BERA’s mission and strategic objectives.
I have significant experience of building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders evidenced, for example, in my partnership work with AARE. My leadership of the ECR Network has also demonstrated my sound judgement and effective decision making as well as my strategic vision given the considerable success of the Network. My existing work with BERA has also evidenced my ability to work effectively as part of a team, for example, through involvement in working groups, most recently around the establishment of BERA Networks. Moreover, my involvement with the Engagement Committee has enabled me to demonstrate impartiality and fairness as well as the ability to respect confidences.
I have also gained wider experience beyond BERA through my involvement with professional associations such as the Association for Physical Education (afPE), the European Educational Research Association (EERA) and the International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education (AIESEP) as well as on various journal editorial boards, including the British Educational Research Journal. These experiences – such as acting as convenor of an EERA Network – have enabled me to further refine my knowledge and skills and to bring with me broader insight to advance the work of BERA.
