BERA Conference 2025

9 September 2025 to 11 September 2025University of Sussex

Welcome to the BERA Annual Conference 2025

It is a great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to a BERA Annual Conference 2025. The BERA Annual Conference, as a key event in the BERA events calendar, continues to grow and develop in response to the needs of its members and remains a great opportunity to disseminate research and network with like-minded colleagues.

For our BERA 2025 Annual Conference we make a welcome return to Brighton on the South Coast of England. With its iconic Royal Pavilion, famous pier and majestic Regency Squares and crescents and its excellent transport links including frequent public transport from London, Heathrow and Gatwick airport, today Brighton is known for being a diverse city with a passion for culture, creativity and sustainability. It is therefore with great pleasure we welcome delegates to the University of Sussex in this wonderful location for the BERA Annual Conference 2025.

We look forward to seeing you in Brighton in 2025

Why attend?

For educational researchers the BERA Annual Conference is an important date in their professional year. It provides the opportunity to:

  • network with existing colleagues
  • support new colleagues at the start of their careers
  • establish the beginnings of new collaborations
  • exchange ideas with like-minded colleagues; and sometimes more profitably, with non-like-minded colleagues
  • make new links with potential publishers or funders
  • learn about research outside your own area and investigate possible connections
  • indulge in discussions of ‘blue sky’ research that reminds you why you are a researcher

Seasoned BERA delegates could probably add several more reasons of their own as to why they return but for most it is about being part of a community of researchers. A community that is dynamic and changes over time; not just in terms of its members but in the way it does things. Participating in a vibrant conference is one way of making sure that you contribute to that change.
