Call for applications to serve on the British Journal of Sociology of Education Editorial Board
The British Journal of Sociology of Education is a well-known and highly regarded international journal which both reflects and helps to define an important field of activity. The Executive Editors of the Journal wish to expand the wider Editorial Board by up to 10 members. We are especially keen to further strengthen Board capacity in the areas of advanced quantitative methods and familiarity with educational institutions and systems across the world, so applications from experienced sociologists of education with these dimensions to their profile are especially welcome.
Editorial Board members carry out almost all the reviewing of submissions to the journal, and on average can expect four new papers per year (plus, on occasions, revised papers for reconsideration). There is no payment for this role.
Board members receive a hard copy of each issue of the journal and their names and affiliations are listed in the inside cover and on the website. Continued membership of the Board is a matter for mutual agreement between the individual and the Executive Editors, who review the Board membership annually.
Applicants should consult the journal’s webpages http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/cbse20/current to familiarise themselves with the aims and scope of the Journal. Applications should take the form of a one-page letter outlining main areas of substantive and methodological expertise and also previous refereeing/reviewing experience for peer-reviewed journals. Please also include a brief cv (maximum 2 pages). Applications should be sent by email to Helen Oliver at H.J.Oliver@sheffield.ac.uk by 12 noon on Friday 28th April 2017.
