Research in Teacher Education: Networking Event
Online registration has now closed. If you want to attend this event, please email events@bera.ac.uk for details of how to register onsite.
This seminar and workshop is intended for teacher educators and emerging researchers. The opening presentation shares the findings of a review of research in teacher education undertaken in the UK between 2000 and 2015. The review builds on the work of the Teacher Education Group (TEG). Attention is given to the range and reach of research undertaken – focus, methodological approach and influence – and some possible implications of the Stern review of research funding for university Schools/Faculties of Education. The afternoon session builds on activities initiated at the BERA 2016 Teacher Education SIG forum meeting, Leeds. Attendees will consider a range of non-traditional conference presentation formats, abstract writing and the review process. The workshop provides a networking opportunity for roundtable discussions on selected research strands identified by SIG members. These include, but are not limited to:
- Video enhanced observation
- Classroom dialogue
- Teacher educators’ professional identity
- The transition from ITE into the workplace
- Teaching of numeracy in the early years
