Carolina Hinojosa, Miss

Project Coordinator at Salford Foundation

Carolina is a Project Coordinator for the Salford Foundation’s ‘Steps’ program which focuses on preventing gender-based violence (GBV). Her areas of interest relate to the development of curriculums and programmes for adolescents that address spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. She joined the Salford Foundation in 2023 and helped coordinate the ‘Boys to Men’ project, which explored boys’ perceptions of gender. From this project, the Salford Foundation was awarded funding from the local combined authority for the development of ‘Steps', a GBV prevention program currently in its pilot year, aimed at boys aged 9-13.
Alongside her colleague, Jack McGeehan, she has co-designed a 5-week curriculum that educates and engages boys in discussions around creating positive, and safe communities that aim to reduce incidents of GBV. Currently, Steps is focusing on training school staff to improve their confidence in addressing issues relating to GBV through implementing the Steps curriculum and development of a whole school approach.
