Leadership for Democracy – BELMAS Day Conference
BELMAS Day Conference in collaboration with the Co-operative College, The Co-operative Head Office, Manchester
The purpose of this conference is to consider the issue of whether leadership in schools works to enhance or detract from democratic practices. The British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS) is keen to engage academic and practitioners in working through the challenging agendas of the current educational and political landscape in order to provoke thinking that leads to more informed and critically reflective practice. To this end both academic and teacher voices are important aspects of this day conference. Keynote talks will be given by Professor Philip Woods of the University of Hertfordshire and John Schostak of Manchester Metropolitan University. These will then provide a context for a series of case studies of how schools are attempting to apply democratic principles to their work. Further details and information about enrolment can be found on the BELMAS website.
