Nina Westrin Modell, Doctor

Lecture at Linnaeus University

I am a lecture at Linnaeus university in Sweden. I have worked as a teacher in PH and health for 12 years and as a teacher educator for 15 years. I am responsible för courses on assessment, didactics, health, dance, rhythm and pulse.

In 2018, I completed my licentiate thesis "To compete for grades – high school students' image of the subject of sports and health through assessment practice", and in 2024 I completed my doctoral project “Education in physical education and health – upper secondary school students’ perceptions of knowledge, learning and assessment.

My research interests are about knowledge, learning and assessment in physical education and health from an educational “bildung” perspective. I am also interested to draw intention to the relationship between physical education and health as a school subject and the Swedish overall democratic mission. I want to contribute to the ongoing discussion about what constitutes knowledge in physical education and health and open up for reflections on alternative perspectives on knowledge in the subject.
