Person
Lucy Barker is an Associate Professor in Initial Teacher Education at Northumbria University, Newcastle. Her arts-based research work is informed and deepened by her theoretical framework which draws on a combination of thinkers from the fields of feminist theory, with new materialism and post-humanism. Collage as a method of inquiry and found poetry are used in her research to challenge the simplistic, neo-liberal notion of the teacher as an autonomous agent of change, in the vacuum of the classroom. Her research instead reveals an entangled symphony of encounters in the classroom, where matter matters, and the intra-actions, messiness and complexity in the space of learning, affects the pedagogy enacted.
