Margaretha Häggström, Associate Professor

Margaretha Häggström holds a PhD in Pedagogy and is a senior lecturer in Visual Arts Pedagogy at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Based on the current era of accelerated environmental change, her research focuses on how humans develop embodied relationships with the more-than-human world from educational and pedagogical perspectives. Her research encompasses sustainability and democratic perspectives, relational pedagogy, futures literacy, and how aesthetic experiences and art can be utilised as powerful tools in schools and the lives of young people. She has published several international scientific and academic articles on this theme and has edited multiple anthologies for Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, Vernon Press, Waxmann and Greenbox. Her articles have been published in several journals including: Futures, Environmental Educational Research, the Journal of Environmental Education, the European Journal of Teacher Education, and Plants, People, Planet.
