Kenni Hamilton

Principal Teacher at Seafield Primary School

Kenni Hamilton is Principal Teacher at Seafield Primary School which is a small village school in West Lothian, in the central belt of Scotland. He has undertaken leadership roles in a number of primary schools within West Lothian Council.
Having successfully completed a Law degree at Glasgow University, Kenni began his journey in education by teaching English as a foreign language in Indonesia for 7 years. During his time in Surabaya, East Java, he became the Director of Studies of a large private language school and was central in promoting the growth of the school as the business expanded as well as supporting the successful opening of further branches of the franchise.
Kenni qualified as a primary teacher upon his return to Scotland. He has always had an enthusiasm and commitment to professional development and recently completed his Masters in Professional Education and Leadership at the University of Stirling.
His desire to improve the quality of his and others educational practice, led him to undertake the Building Racial Literacy programme in 2023. He feels that, on both a personal and professional level, this is the most important piece of professional learning that he has undertaken and he is fully committed to taking forward anti-racist education within his school (both with staff and pupils) and more widely within the education authority. He continues to facilitate on the BRL programme to support others to undertake this essential professional development opportunity and is involved in a number of groups that promote and develop anti-racist education both nationally and locally.
