In this episode, former BERA President, John Furlong joins BERA Chief Executive Nick Johnson to discuss his recently published memoir “Islands: In Search of Brave New Worlds”. John reflects on his career and in particular the personal side of his commitment to educational research. John’s book takes us back to New York and the Caribbean in 1969 and the decisions he took about his life and his values. He reflects on how and why he became an educational researcher and how those choices played out in his career. This podcast was recorded live during a session at the 2023 BERA Conference and has bene edited for release as a podcast.
