Ellen Boeren is Professor in Education at the School of Education, University of Glasgow. She is currently Principal Investigator on an ESRC Standard Grant Project that investigates the statistical evidence-base underpinning adult learning and education policymaking in the United Kingdom and Ireland. She primarily researches participation in adult and lifelong education and is additionally interested in higher education topics such as the REF and league tables. Between 2019 and 2022, she was editor of Adult Education Quarterly. Her monograph ‘Lifelong learning participation in a changing policy context: An interdisciplinary theory’ won her the Cyril O. Houle Award for outstanding contribution to the adult education literature.
