Learning for all: BERA Small Grants Fund research reports

This series of reports presents the findings and recommendations of six research projects funded by BERA’s 2022/23 Small Grants Fund (SGF) on the theme ‘learning for all’. The projects examined educational provision, in its widest sense, that seeks to provide or enhance learning opportunities for all. These include interventions, pedagogical or curriculum approaches and other alternative provision.

The six reports are as follows:

  • Musicianship for key stage 1 teachers: Teaching generalist primary teachers to teach classroom music, Rebecca Berkley
  • Food banks in schools: Exploring the impact on children’s learning, Alice Bradbury & Sharon Vince
  • Images from the edges: Girls’ experiences of being at risk of permanent exclusion, Emma Clarke
  • Survey of dyslexia identification methods, Johny Daniel
  • Grief matters: Exploring the impact of bereavement & grief on learning for all, Anna Lise Gordon
  • Developing (language) learning opportunities for precarious migrant workers at higher education institutions: Charting possibilities, challenges & recommendations, Silke Zschomler

About the SGF

Through the SGF, BERA awards funding annually to research on a different, pressing theme each year with the intention that each project will:

  • make important contributions to the discipline by contributing to and leading current debates
  • develop research capacity by involving postgraduate students and early career researchers
  • receive applications from and involving practitioners and policymakers as well as academic researchers.
