Nick Pratt is an associate professor in education and Associate Head of School (Research) at the University of Plymouth Institute of Education. Nick’s research focuses on the boundary between education policy and practice – how policy initiatives play out for practitioners in classrooms and the effect this has on learners’ experiences of education. The broadly sociological focus fits with an interest in the relationships between systems, political and social contexts and those who work within them. This work is centred in mathematics education, particularly in primary schools, although also in relationships between doctoral supervisors and their students.
