Louisa Dawes, Mrs

Senior Lecturer in Education at University of Manchester

Louisa Dawes is a Senior Lecturer in Education at the Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester. She teaches on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Manchester Institute of Education and has been subject lead for MFL PGCE and Programme Lead for the PGDE two year, intitial teacher education programme.
Her research interests focus on teachers' lived experiences in schools serving low-income communities and runs a large professional learning project 'Local Matters' working with schools and educational institutions to become social justice researchers in their contexts. She has had several articles published on this work and more generally on the impact of current reforms in education, including ITE. Before joining the University, she worked for over twenty years as a teacher of French and Spanish in Greater Manchester schools and abroad.
