Mary Kitchener, Dr

Educational Developer at Oxford Brookes University

Mary Kitchener has worked as an educational developer at the Oxford Centre for Staff Learning and Development (OCSLD) since 2016. In 2021, she completed doctoral research on the experiences of academics’ full-time transition from professional practice to university. With a background in further and adult education, her research interests include improving equality of opportunity for underrepresented groups to access, succeed and progress in higher education, designing effective threshold lecturer preparation programmes, and inclusive education. As well as being a Doctor of Education, she has a BSc (hons) in psychology, a master’s in education and is a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has presented her work at the Advance HE Teaching and Learning Conference, the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA), the Kaleidoscope Conference, the University of Cambridge, and at Brookes Learning & Teaching Exhibition and Conference, the School of Education Conference and the EdD Colloquium. In addition to her role in OCSLD, she is an end point assessor for Advance HE (Level 7 Academic Professional Apprenticeship).
