Anna-Claire Norden, Mrs

Headteacher at Swavesey Primary School

Anna has 29 years of teaching experience in primary education, with the last 9 as the headteacher of two different schools. Anna is a proactive supporter of ITT and is at present the co-chair of the PGCE standing committee at the Faculty of Education (University of Cambridge).

Throughout her career, Anna has undertaken research to enhance the provision and outcomes for primary aged children. This has comprised both school and institutional led research and includes her own Masters research, a QCA funded school-based action research project and contributing to a UKLA multimodal literacy project.

As a school leader, Anna is passionate about the positive impact school-based research can have within her school and proactively encourages staff to undertake opportunities implementing evidence-based changes. Through this she believes that teaching and learning can truly be focused on the needs of the children being taught in her school rather than based on wider ‘targets’ which may not apply.
