Maths teachers worried about ‘inadequate’ algebra in GCSEs
Many teenagers are embarking on maths A-level courses with an inadequate grasp of algebra because they can get a good grade at GCSE without having mastered it, new research from assessment experts has found. The findings, by Nicky Rushton and Dr Frances Wilson, of Cambridge Assessment, are presented to the British Educational Research Association’s annual conference on Tuesday 23rd September.
