April Manderson, Ms

Faculty Wellbeing Advisor at Manchester Metropolitan University

April Manderson is faculty wellbeing advisor at Manchester Metropolitan University.

She has been a mental health practitioner for 15 years, working in Schools and FE Institutions in Greater Manchester, since 2010. Her interest in cross-cultural work stems from therapeutic engagement with students and families, from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds presenting with mental health issues resulting from poverty, inequality, war and displacement.

During this time she developed and facilitated a range of workshops and interventions tailored to address mental health management for these vulnerable groups, in a variety of educational and community settings.

Where possible, April takes the holistic approach to practice and believe in supporting the ‘whole person’. She is one half of’ ‘The Sunshine Sisters, along with Dr June Williams. We host community wellbeing sessions, guided meditations and Q+A call-ins on Unity Radio, and assist the Manchester based ‘Radical Herbalism Collective’ to presenting wellbeing workshops and seminars.
