Sylvia Ikomi has an MA in education. She is a recipient of an Economic and Social Research Council Stuart Hall PhD studentship. She is an early career researcher, higher education lecturer, teacher and the author of the autumn 2023 BERA Research Intelligence magazine article ‘Black girls: Adultification & care in school’. Her PhD research is on the adultification of Black girls in local authority care. Sylvia delivers continuous professional development training for teachers and social workers that is aimed at supporting them in working more effectively with children in local authority care and improving the children’s life outcomes.
